Many of the less expensive small size (# 1 head) Phillips Head (PH) driver tips are not manufactured to tight tolerances to match the PH screw head socket although that is not necessarily apparent to the naked eye. However, if the user attempts to remove stubborn, rusted, corroded (dissimilar metal corrosion) Phillips Head fasteners with an inferior tool, the frequent result is that the socket in the head of the Phillips screw will be stripped or the flutes on the driver end will be damaged. Typically, the screw is rendered non-removable without incurring collateral damage to the surface being secured with the fastener. The Xcelite driver tip, on the other hand, fits the PH socket in the head of the screw more precisely and with appropriate care, will remove the screw without damaging the screw head, the tip of the tool, or the item’s surface. If any of the nasty conditions mentioned above exist, don’t damage what you’re trying to fix. Get an Xcelite driver with great “bite”, use an appropriate penetrant if needed, keep the tool aligned with the fastener on the screw head, apply shock and then torque. Good luck.Picture is WRONG, the description is correct... Its is a Phillips #1 pointI ordered this because the T8 blade I use broke again. I go through these about every 2 years or so. The only thing that I do not like is that the metal is too soft for the job the tool needs to do.USED IT BEFORE, WORKS GOOD.Sweet for my range bag. I got this because I already have a 99 series handle and a lot of other bits. I needed this one for my Caldwell brass catcher that mounts to the Picatinny rail. If you need multiple Torx sizes i recommend the set over buying single bits because it will save you a little money. It's a screwdriver blade. I lost the one I had for more than 30 years and needed a replacement to fit the handle. This was a replacement for the same tool that was inadvertently burned after contact with a battery terminal. As with all Xcelite tools this is a quality part that is an exact replacement for the original. It was shipped quickly and as described. And I didn't have to purchase the larger sets ($$) that have tips I don't need. Decent vendor and was fulfilled by Amazon which is ALWAYS a bonus when I can use "Prime"!!
